What is MIIP?
Mindfulness-Informed Integrative Psychotherapy (MIIP) is a new psychotherapeutic approach developed by Jan Benda, Ph.D. MIIP cultivates clients’ mindfulness and self-compassion without the use of meditation. It employs mindfulness and compassion primarily to transform so-called maladaptive schemas, which arise from developmental trauma and are the hidden cause of many mental disorders. MIIP draws on Satitherapy, Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor Therapy (PBSP), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Schema Therapy, Transactional Analysis, as well as findings from neuroscience, psychedelic research, and the traditional psychology of the Abhidhamma. It is based on the theory of common therapeutic factors and integrates theoretical, assimilative, and eclectic elements.
